LEGAL NOTICE
ANNUAL ELECTION OF THE FAIRVIEW FIRE DISTRICT AND REFERENDUM ON SALE OF SURPLUS FIRE APPARATUS ON DECEMBER 9, 2025
PLEASE TAKE NOTICE, that the Annual Election of the Fairview Fire District will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the Fairview Firehouse located at 258 Violet Avenue, Route 9-G, Poughkeepsie, NY, to elect one (1) fire district commissioner to a five (5) year term, commencing on January 1, 2026 and ending on December 31, 2030.
PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE, that on December 9, 2025, the District, having complied with the provisions of the State Environmental Quality Review Act, will also hold a referendum on the following proposition:
Shall a Resolution of the Board of Fire Commissioners entitled: “A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE DISTRICT’S 2001 LADDER TRUCK AND THE DISTRICT’S 2007 RESCUE ENGINE SURPLUS TO THE NEEDS OF THE DISTRICT AND AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF THOSE VEHICLES” duly adopted by the Board on the 21st of October, 2025, be approved.
Please note that only residents of the District who are otherwise qualified and have registered to vote with the Dutchess County Board of Elections on or before November 17, 2025 shall be eligible to vote.
Absentee Ballot Applications are available on the District website (www.fairview.fd/documents/) and at the Firehouse. The completed Application must be received by the District Secretary seven days or more before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter or his or her agent.
Please note that Absentee Ballots cannot be used to vote on a referendum. Candidates for the office of Fire Commissioner must file a letter stating their name and declaring the office they are seeking with District Secretary Samantha Juan at the Fairview Firehouse, 258 Violet Avenue, Route 9-G, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601; to be place on the ballot, such letter must be received by the Secretary no later than 3:00p.m., prevailing time, on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
